In this 4-hour workshop with DCC instructor Rachel Levine, students will learn the magic of Obvara firing. Developed in the 12th century Baltic, this traditional firing method involves heating pottery to red-hot and pulling it out of the kiln at peak temperature. Using tongs, students dip the glowing pot into a fermented flour mixture.** After quenching the piece in a water, the pottery is left with splashes, drips, and dots of black, white, and tan.
