I create functional wheelthrown pottery in the DC area, with a focus on alternative firing techniques, like naked raku and woodfiring.
I’m drawn to dramatic vase forms that highlight the movement of the wheel, and my work explores how smoke and atmosphere transform clay into patterns that feel divinely ordered. Outside of my own practice, I teach beginner wheelthrowing classes and raku workshops at District Clay Center.
Hi, I’m Rachel!
